UPDATE: 14 March 2022

As of March 15 2022, Selkirk Selects will be adjusting our COVID policy to fall in line with the province of Manitoba. Masks will be optional for athletes, coaches and participants.

All athletes and participants ie: parents in parent and tot classes, feeling unwell are asked to remain home until symptom free. 

Proof of Vaccination will no longer be required to enter our facility. At this time spectators will still be restricted due to the minimal space we have for spectators in the gym. 

 

UPDATE: September, 2021

Masks are required for all gymnast's ages 5 and up while training. All coaches and parents/guardians are required to wear masks at all times while in the gym, and are required to show proof of full vaccination along with valid photo ID.

 

UPDATE: May 8. 2021

 

Due to the new Public Health orders, the gym will be closed from May 9 - May 30, 2021. Classes today, May 8th are running as per usual. We will update members when we know more. 

 

UPDATE: March 16. 2021

 

As per the new Public Health orders, the gym is now allowed to open its doors again.  We were ready to open sooner but had to deal with some water damage in the gym first. Classes resume Monday, March 22, 2021.

 

UPDATE: October 30, 2020

 

The Government of Manitoba has declared the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region as the red/critical level of the Pandemic Response System. As of October 31, 2020, the gym will be closed.

UPDATE:  September 30, 2020

As per the direction of the Manitoba Gymnastics Association and Sport Manitoba, masks are now required for all gymnasts in certain areas of the facility.

 

Gymnasts must wear masks in the following situations/areas:

  • When entering and exiting the facility.

  • When going to the washroom.

  • When entering the changing area of the gym where shoes and coats are kept.

  • During snack breaks. Gymnasts must wear masks to the eating area and remove it only to eat.

 

NOTE: Classes that have breaks will alternate their break times to ensure the kids are 6 feet apart.

 

UPDATE:  September 28, 2020

As of today, Winnipeg and the surrounding areas (this includes Selkirk) have been set to the “Orange - Restricted” pandemic response level.

 

We ask that you continue to be diligent in self-screening prior to sending your child to classes.

  • If anyone in your household is sick, has gone for testing and is awaiting results, or has been exposed to anyone waiting for results, please refrain from attending gymnastics until negative results are confirmed and all symptoms have subsided for a minimum of 24 hours.

  • Please also remind your children to be diligent with trying to remain distant in the gym and using the markers on the floors as reminders.

  • All coaches will continue to wear masks while coaching.

  • The Province has provided Sport Manitoba and MGA with the direction that at this time, the maximum occupancy of 10 people indoors and outdoors and the wearing of masks does not apply to those actively engaging in athletic or fitness activities. Please see the second photo for more information.

 

UPDATE:  July 6, 2020

We are now accepting registration for current members.  You should have received an email.  New members' registration will open on July 18th.  Please check back on July 18th for all registration information.  Registration will be by mail (not in-person). 

UPDATE:  June 23, 2020

Our facility is still closed. We are working with the Manitoba Gymnastics Association, our Board of Directors, as well as our coaching staff in an effort to re-open our facility as soon as possible and in a safe manner. 

Prior to re-opening our facility: 

  • Our staff will be attending a mandatory clinic where they will learn to clean equipment between stations during practices.

  • Our staff will be attending a mandatory clinic where they will learn to coach gymnasts with minimal to no contact (no spotting). 

  • Our facility will also undergo a deep cleaning and sanitation process to ensure gymnasts and families are safe when we resume our operations. 

COMPETITIVE SUMMER TRAINING SESSIONS: 

Competitive parents should have received an email Monday, June 22, 2020, outlining the upcoming summer training sessions for competitive gymnasts ONLY. These will run during the month of August.

UPDATE: March 14, 2020

Due to exceptional circumstances and the evolution of COVID-19, Selkirk Selects has decided to cancel ALL classes effective March 16th. We are committed to the health and safety of all of our athletes and families, and that remains our top priority. We have made this decision in conjunction with the recommendations put out by the Manitoba Gymnastics Association (MGA).  

 

We will follow the situation closely and inform all members immediately of any changes or updates.

  • Fall Session 2020: Please keep checking our "Registration" page for information.

  • The Annual Selkirk Selects Invitational has been CANCELLED.

To: MGA Clubs, Coaches, Officials and Committee Members  

 

Cancelled Events 

The MGA in conjunction with their hosts will be cancelling all sanctioned events prior to March 31st, 2020. These events include:

  • Morden Spring Classic – March 14, 2020

  • Selkirk Selects Invitational – March 21, 2020

  • Manitoba Opens and Panthers Crocus Invitational – March 21-22, 2020

  • Beausejour Invitational – March 28, 2020

 

All participants will receive a refund of their registrations fees less the administrative fee from the Host Club. The Attending Clubs will receive a communication from the Host Clubs regarding the refunds directly.  We ask kindly that individuals do not directly contact the Host Clubs. 

 

Future Events

The MGA will be re-evaluating the status of future events such as Provincial Championships on an on-going basis and will provide an update when one is available.

We are communicating with Gymnastics Canada (re: Canadian Championships), BC Gymnastics (re: Western Canadian Championships) and Gymnastics Saskatchewan (re: Western Canada Cup). All updates regarding these events will be communicated directly to the affected clubs and officials.

 

Recommendations for Practices

At this time, the MGA is highly recommending that clubs consider cancelling practices to mitigate risk. The MGA will continue to monitor the status of this and will provide updates when available.
